Time To Ride To Moonshine

Been awhile since I’ve had time to post anything here. Seems like my life has gone crazy lately. One good thing though;the weather has warmed up, and there are a lot of motorcycles on the road.

It just seems like it’s more fun when there are other riders on the road. You get to talk with people about their bike, and where they’ve ridden. You also get to plan rides with other riders.

One ride we’re planning in the near future is the Moonshine Lunch Run. I posted here about last years ride. This year the ride is the weekend of April 14th. I encourage anyone who can make it to do so. It’s a fun time, and I’ll guarantee you’ll meet some good people.

If you have any questions about this years Moonshine Lunch Run post them here and I’ll try to answer them. In the mean time here’s a cool video from last years event.

J & P Open House

I just made reservations for our annual J&P Cycles open house ride. This is a ride we used to do in a day, but we’ve had so much fun in the past we’ve started extending it into a weekend.

For those of you who are not familiar with the J&P Cycles open house you should check it out. Here’s a video from last year’s open house.

Delta Blues Ride

A few years ago my wife and I were riding through the southern United States with no particular destination in mind. We had ridden south out of Chattanooga Tennessee into Georgia then west through Georgia and into Alabama. We were riding west out of Muscle Shores on highway 72 when we saw a sign indicating that the Natchez Trace Parkway wasn’t too far so we decided to check it out.  Read More

Snow Bike

Snow Bike

Riding a motorcycle on snow is a thrilling experience because you can’t see what the front wheel is about run into under the blanket of snow. Accordingly, when snow falls, so do dirt bikes, and the end result is that they get parked in the shed and in some climates, that accounts for roughly half of the year or more, and accounts for enormous wastage … or enormous opportunity. When Tim Jordan moved to Idaho, he missed his dirt bike during the winter months and seven years ago, began a quest to build a conversion for a motorcycle that enabled it to be ridden in the snow. The conversion is now fully developed and will turn a dirt bike into a snoxcycle for US$2895 inside 90 minutes and back again in an hour. The great news is that it handles just like a normal dirt bike, so there’s no learning curve for the average motorcycle rider.

Read more about it here: Snow Bike.

Motorcycle Safety Foundation

Motorcycle Safety Foundation

Every few years I go back and take the advanced rider course offered by the Motorcycle Safety Foundation. I’ve found that over the course of a few riding seasons I’ll pick up some bad riding habits. This course helps me unlearn my bad habits, and polish up my good ones. These course are popular so you have to sign up early. Here’s a link to the Motorcycle Safety Foundation web site where you can get info on courses in your area.
